A Visit to The Raman Research Institute
The Raman Research Institute is an autonomous research institute engaged in research in basic sciences. The institute was founded in 1948 by the Indian physicist and Nobel Laureate Sir C V Raman. It was restructured in 1972 to become an aided autonomous institute receiving funds from the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India.
Apart from its focus on research, The institute has outreach programs and their science exhibition is one such.
This year on Feb 28th 2026, children of the 7th, 8th and 9th stds of our school were invited to visit the RRI on the day of their science exhibition.
The children were taken by bus to the institute and were introduced to various stalls where experiments were displayed and demonstrated. The students went from stall to stall making notes and asking doubts on experiments displayed that were largely based on Newtonian and Quantum Physics. Refreshments were given to the children during their 4-hour trip.
The children enjoyed their day out that combined fun with education.
